Leeds, UK, 10th December, 2019 – Cloud playout and workflow specialist Ltd announced today that, following the Infrastructure as Code methodology, coralPlay pipelines can now be fully configured using YAML templates.

coralPlay is a next generation playout product that can be hosted in any public cloud, virtual environment or on bare metal. It has been designed using microservices and is deployed using docker containers and kubernetes. Channels can be launched in software very quickly by selecting options in the UI and pressing a “channel launch” button. This spins up any resources that are required and sets up the appropriate parameters that are defined via the configuration.

Configurable Pipeline

The configuration uses YAML templates; mimic diagrams display the functional elements and their interconnections. The functional elements include live input, media player, graphics player, scaler, loudness control, subtitler, DVE, switcher, keyer and so on. The interconnections can be set up and modified using simple intuitive tools via the UI. New functions can be added when setting up pipelines and any parameters, such as output formats and bit rates can be defined via the YAML templates.

Peter Hajittofi, CEO of adds

“Configuring a video/audio pipeline is an essential part of setting up a playout system and defines what components are utilized, their interconnection and the values of essential parameters. In the old traditional hardware days, this was done by engineers using their expertise to design a system, wireman doing the cabling and technicians setting up the devices used. In the new world of software based systems, it is important to make sure this set up is easy and intuitive. By using YAML templates our new configuration tool does exactly that. In addition, the YAML templates are also accessible via the API to enable remote systems to set up or modify the configurations.”
